Bubble gum love

life

The day started out hopeless in utter dispair

Went to bed chewing bubblicious then woke up with gum in my hair!

Skipped breakfast Got a whoopin and a bad hair cut

Life as a shorty shouldn’t be so tough

At school friends and foes pointed and laughed

At my bald spots made it difficult to concentrate on my math

The teacher asked me to go to the board

Solving for x was easy the answer was four

But I could feel the whole classes’ eyes staring me down

I wanted to break out, but had to be clowned

As I returned to my seat my face wore a frown

Everyone was laughing except a girl sitting in the back

Lisa winked at me, suddenly I didn’t feel so wack

How did I never notice this pretty young thing

I was just getting into girls as a pre-teen

I didn’t know that I wanted or needed Love until I heard LL

Cool J, suddenly I was under her spell

The next few periods in my 7th grade day

I was asking everyone about Lisa from around the way

Same school and church since I was small fry

Like that rose bush on the corner I kept ignoring her whenever I’d pass by

But one day full of gloom

My mood and perspective shifted when I noticed her full bloom

At lunch my focus was hopeless

Anticipating band class next so I could revel in her dopeness

How or why did I never holler

Then my boy grabbed me by my collar

And the bell rang

I still felt shame

self conscience of my whole hair thing

But she didn’t seem bothered

And saw me for me so I was determine to holla

Grabbed some cookies paid the lunch lady a dollar

And made my way to class

What does she play - I think its something brass

It’s Alto sax - I really dig her Jazz!

Grabbing my French Horn I approached her and her friend

Gave them both a pack of cookies before practice began

Hi Lisa, congrats on making first chair

Please don’t mind the hair

That’s what happens when do don’t care

Which barber you get

Lisa laughed, Vanessa chucked and slapped her hip

As my confidence was overgrown

I asked Lisa and Vanessa if I could walk them both home

My bike’s basket could carry a sax and trombone

They said no doubt

Explained the basket was on account of my paper route

My boys got annoyed and said what’s that all about

Vanessa, me and Lisa walking down the street my homies were shocked with an open mouth

First we dropped off Vanessa at her house

Then I asked Lisa about the wink

She said what you think?

I told her that I appreciated that she didn’t clown me

She said ‘bout time that you found me

She went on about how she had a crush for years

But didn’t really know me or my peers

Plus she would always blush cuz I was first to know my fractions

And plus I kind of looked like Michael Jackson

I told her that dug her too

And that I’d like be her man if that was cool

She said cool, had to laugh

Who  are you Roger  or Zap?

So you wanna be my man, this ain’t computer love

Let’s take it slow, then later we can try some stuff

I said that I was down, and gave her a hug

She said come on bruh, don’t be a scrub

Then she grabbed my coat

Pulled me close and stuck her tongue down my throat

I Was hooked, and a little shook

Lisa’s a preacher’s kid probably knows every trick in the book

She closed my mouth

We were at her house

I just realized she on my paper route!
