Speeding through mountain ranges
To get to the moon.
Driving with no shoes.
I can’t bear another night
Of being all alone
When it was your idea
For us to come together
To build a happy home.
Hopefully,
Heaven has a resolution.
Hopefully,
The high
Won’t spark illusions.
I want our time to be picture perfect
But,
I don’t want my wishful thinking
To be the reason
That I look in the mirror
And cannot recognize the person.
I’ve been changed before.
I’ve been washed back to shore.
All I want is to go deeper
But,
I don’t want the trip to be forced.
I can’t even describe
The joy that would fill my heart
If you would right your wrongs
By simply racing to me.
But,
If forever has run its course,
The starting line is where I guess I’ll be.
