paper lanterns

 I’m starting to
let go of you
what you give
you can take, away
.
staring out, at the empty space
that used to, hold me in place
the echos seep in, through the walls
wispering to me, their hollow calls
.
I’m starting to
let go of you
what I gave
I can take away
.
blue black shadows, follow me
but, I hang paper lanterns, in the trees
marking a way, for the lost to see
hope is a, dangerous thing
I know, the trail is steep
but no more, escaping into sleep
.
I’m starting to
believe I’ll make it through
what I give
I can take away
.
the rising water, won’t fill my lungs
I sail above, it’s dark depths
measuring my, fragile steps
