The wind blew this way
causing all of nature to sway—
shaking leaves, bending trunks
of the ancient trees—
all bouncing back
like ancient bending blacks
down on their knees.
This was all in the discontented
winter’s pain;
now I look forward to the coming
contented spring;
when all of nature’s creature
shall freely sing…
soaring from where the cocoon
had once restrained.
Yes, bells will be loudly ringing
to the freedom songs, we’ll be singing.
