I was always taught to be a lady

Not knowing I was destined to be a Queen.

And while I'm not acclimated to the finer things,

My royalty comes with lessons learned

experiences and trying to fulfill my dreams.

Already, I know I'm here for something great.

Trying to be careful not to allow this world to taint my faith.

Already, I know your temptation is all around.

Attempting at every moment to bring me down.

But I walk with my head held to the sky,

knowing to stumble means to surely die.

I know who I am. 

I know my struggles.

I know my imperfections.

Already, I'm praying your demons away,

because my father promised me a better day.

Unfortunately for YOU enemy

I BELIEVE EVERYTHING HE SAY!

Already, you've tried to trick me into walking your way.

My black is beautiful

 With different shades of hue

From light to dark

There's no replication for something pure and true

Check the mirror and see

My black gives me sense of importance and identity

I am proud of my black it represents a troubled race

Understand it's not all about the color of my face

It's about the strength that runs deep throughout my veins

The endurance of my ancestors that struggled through times of pain

Which let's me know I carry that exact same strength

And my children's children will be on the same wavelength

The moment I open my eyes I thank God for allowing me to finish what I've started

To bring together what has been parted

To have air flowing through my lungs to breathe

Blessed to to have eyes for once I was blind now I see

Blessed with the ability to love so abundantly

I'm blessed to have experienced trouble

So that I'm able to appreciate the stubble

Blessed to have a peace of mind

Now knowing how to avoid distractions

And how not to waste my own time

Blessed to be able to watch my children grow

And see them live out the things

I've taught to them through my own personal growth
