We as a black people living in the good ol' U.S. of A.
Has lost the meaning of our blackness way back in the day
Forever walking in the darkness of our mind
That's been poisoned over decades of white-washed entwine

Everything that we once treasured has been stolen
From right underneath our noses, in plain sight, yet we're still rollin
In the lies laced with pleasantries called the U.S. Constitution, filled with hypocrisy called equality
knowing damn well deep down inside that'll never happen, we should be appalled to be

A part of this "De-mah-crah-see", if you wanna call it that
How would it be defined, when massa made the law, while stepping on us like a welcome mat                                  Now most of us is in a deep sleep, with eyes open wide
Like the walking dead being slaughtered by genocide

Let's try religion we were told, read some biblical phrases
Enough to remain subservient to massa, hell owe him all praises
To be kept under submission, dying in purgatory
Eternally strangled from telling her story

Then we turned to the Quran to seek the truth
Again, how can it be defined when stuck behind a steel-barred concrete booth?
Man it's hard to keep your room clean
When it's full of social/political filth, that's splitting the silver lining screen

Now we as a black people, what is the solution
To this ever present, overwhelming social polution?
My suggestion is to read/study about our real heritage from our estranged motherland, and live right instead of what's left
before our struggling legacy get wiped out by the disease called Identity Theft

JoJo, this is powerful work, it appears to flow from the mind and heart; one tool needed for exploration and the other needed to guard against captivity. This piece is very well delivered.
