The headlights scorching
Wind whistling
Trees rustling
My feet pound the gravel
As car chase by
As a raven’s wings,
My hair whips behind
As I attempt to escape
The captivity of my own mind

confinedThe headlights scorching |
AloneFaces stained by streaks of tears, All the pain I've suffered through the years. Hidden, caged, within this broken soul, Weak, battered, this heartbreak is taking its toll. Awakening to screams and a cold sweat, Nightmares so horrifying, my cheeks are still wet. Insecure in my own skin, Self-conscious to my own whim. My once plentiful love and trust gone, It’s left its mark like the rising dawn. I’ve been stagnated; my life is on pause, Lost and wounded, I have no cause. Stumbling feet and trembling hands, Life is a mirage in the desert sands |
