Raised by disciplined hands
Without prejudice, regardless of
Our differences
Despite the churlishness and
Biased acceptance I stayed the
Course and ran the gauntlet,
But we’re family though.
Trained up in elder’s life essentials
Unity was the intended purpose
For our strength and togetherness
Nonetheless we remain divided
And it’s instead our weakness
I guess it doesn’t matter to you,
But we’re family though.
Calls of “I need you fam” ring
Like church bells on Sunday morning
Whenever it suits your ego yet
A simple acknowledgement of me
Is like cutting wood with a rusted saw
Damned if it do or damned if it don’t
But we’re family though.
Regardless of how things are
How they’ve been or will be,
The ground I stand on is solid.
Remember, time stands still for none
But will reveal unspoken truths
Even when their holders remain silent
Get right before you get left.
God bless you fam.
