Leaving on a Plane

This morning I woke up it was panic and hysteria
What was prosperous once have now turned to slum areas
Now marshal law and revolutionary ideas rule these lands
The same lands I worked and shaped with my two hands
I slaved under the beating sun for my family's sake
Gathering up my earnings that an honest man makes
But if I stay here one more day it might be a mistake
Because ideas are lost and freedom of speech is banned
I don't recognize people or places anymore in this land
People are getting stopped, detained and locked up
Then being executed by soldiers with guns ed up
So I'll have to flee to a land where everyone is free
I'll miss my home and friends, mountains, birds and trees
But I swear to god my children will grow up to be free
And one day I'll grow old and have grandchildren to love
Who will know freedom like we could never dream of
And I'll put them on my lap and tell them stories you see
Of a once tropical paradise ninety miles over the sea
But for now I'll leave all these thoughts buried inside
Come on mother, wife and kids, the planes ready to fly
