Oppressed mud smashes
the wall of its freedom flow,
the collateral damage a mere
result of the political hindsight
of freely generated oppression;
Now the twofold purpose of walls
exemplifies the American historical beginning
as an immigrant nation—immigrants invading
indigenous people’s homelands,
violently reducing aboriginal life
to near extinction—forced reserved life styling;
History has its tales of magic overtones
of political deceptions: now you see it—
now you don’t—the veil, a walled deception
seeking—shutting out—and shutting down reality;
(Slavery is a chapter footnote told in history…)
A 400 years chapter
of survival lessons
taught in ourstory…
Awakened in the reality of ourstory, we must realize
that in history little, if anything has really changed,
saved the evidence that we keep getting stronger
and future chapters will take us over the mountain top;
Be not deceived—freedom is the child of labor
and we must endure the pain of her birth
that she may grow into her generation’s adulthood
and become the mother of everlasting liberation.
