Black Reporter:
“Sir, would you be peed-off
if someone called you a racist?”
White Respondent:
“Boy, if I was a racist, would I be
talking to you?”
Black Reporter:
“Sir, do you have any African Americans
living in your neighborhood?”
White Respondent:
“Hell yeah, boy;
got a colored family
who moved in
‘bout three months ago.”
Black Reporter:
“How do you feel about that, Sir?”
White Respondent:
“Well, they quiet and don’t bother nobody
and I don’t bother them.
Black Reporter:
“Sir, what do you mean about that?
I don’t understand?
White Respondent:
“Well, it’s like this, boy.
I stays in my lane and they stays theirs;
as long as we don’t cross lanes, it’s all good.”
The Black Reporter put away his gear
and looked at the White Respondent drive
off in his truck.
The truck’s license’s plate read, GDN1865;
a rebel flag adorned the lower right corner:
And that’s a rap! America!
