I can't get lost in space
losing sight of the road
up ahead speed is not
an option I'll get there
when I get there go on
without me if you must
I'm not in a hurry to scurry
got luggage a lot of bags
to carry things I couldn't
leave behind too hard to
find this address on GPS
so I can get to the right
house the white house
trimmed in gold with the
big picture window like
the one I threw a rock
through when I was ten years
old that was long time ago
holding the seat of my pants
promising I'll never do
it again remember when
how can I forget still
feeling the hits from a
the twist of a braided
up switch almost there
I see the bright skyline
whoever said this city is
pretty wasn't speaking of
tent city homelessness
ain't no joke so many
people a day away from
sleeping in snow
I know too well about
how it feels nowhere to
go wishing I had bills
in a mailbox car parked
in a garage sit my trash
on the side of the road
this how you know you're
better off then some folk
more than you know
the thoughts so humbling
content to be struggling
to keep a roof overhead
instead of fighting for
survival under a bridge
