When someone’s life is lost
There is no greater pain
Death does not discriminate
We breathe air just the same.
Everyone has their favorites
Some being closer than others
It doesn’t matter if it’s your sister
Friend, cousin, dad or mother.
We all grieve for our losses
Whether it be public or private
There’s comfort in knowing that together
We can help each other survive it.
When our time comes regardless how
Public status holds no weight,
No matter the height of your pedestal
Death does not discriminate.
Is it not written (Genesis 3:19) that we
Are dust and to dust we shall return?
When one is lost and feels forgotten
This should be cause for concern.
When it’s all said and done,
The living have to move on
Heaven knows we seek its comfort
When that special person is gone.
Grief is a process that we all
Have been and will go through,
You pray for comforting hands
When you feel there’s no one to go to.
We have to look out for one another
And be certain we’re all okay
Offer that time or ear one may need
Before their hope fades away.
When a loved one’s life is lost
The pain for many will be great
Be sure to check on their survivors
Because death does not discriminate.
