No, we can’t say
It didn’t happen; it did!
White House directed;
Senate produced; improvised
And played out right before
Our eyes—and they said
The revolution would not
Be televised—but it is.
Reconstructing reconstruction;
Scripting out the future
Of the American past revisited.
Indeed, a Tri-Trumpian overture
Played out in classical themes
Of constitutional comedies of errors;
And the beat goes on.
Yet, where noosing ropes
Once stretched and pulled innocent necks,
We must now take hands and pull
Down and ink votes; yes noosing votes!
How else can we prevent another revoke?
Now, in the present of the future’s past,
We must show that truth spat and dumped
Upon shall rise again.
Come let us throw the boom-a-rang of reciprocity
Bending further the arch of justice;
Shattering the “in” bastardizing its liberating birth.
Remember, it’s better to be aware than sorry;
Our confused and abused children are watching.
Let not his-story again reduce our-story to a footnote.
Let us continue to rise with our eyes stayed on the prize.
P.S.: The shade has not changed
But the vote must!
