For The Vote Won
(Apropos Of Those Who Die For The Win)
New currents of party waves froth our political shores,
Waterlogging us with deceit; pontificating candidates
Now matching the frothing hue that continues to dampen
The toned lives of those beached in sands of voter despair.
Once again we find ourselves at political crossroads
Where again, like fallen leaves, our votes are gathered
To be stuffed and bagged into blue and red-stated boxes.
Be not blind to the colors:- Notice the American trio.
Look whose now standing and demanding of us!
Are they speaking to the masses collectively? look again!
As bold as ever, there standing and demanding!
Amazing! segregated pleads during integrated debating!
We must not allow our blood-won votes to be a mere glint;
The vision of equality can’t be a one-time quota reality.
Collective “wood chucking-write ins” is a powerful statement!
Casting losing divided votes are just that! Losing divided votes!
Indeed, we’re no longer hidden figures or political pawns
To be manipulated and auctioned off to the highest bidder;
Today, we are an enlightening political force to be reckoned with.
And understand well, the red, blue and white of America’s politics.
No longer can we be viewed as a political power ball to be won;
We must show America once again, that “…its future grows out of
A present…shaped by [its] past.” The deferred dream has exploded.
Today, let us make America aware that there’ll be no escaping of
The haunting presence of the exploded dream—a voted vision reality:
Our new climatic change of political power is no joke. Look out tomorrow!
