All of me beamed,
til she left in that light
shadowing my body into dark depths
staining me like the dusking marine.
Drowning within,
my lungs over top,
not but two anchors,
submerging me without her.
My air slumped
while she vanished at the surface,
retiring my purpose,
without a life guard.
She told me life was hard,
but yet I swam with the sharks
only feeling the sharp barbs
once she was away from me.
