Pacing the floor waiting,
creeks in the hard wood,
a splintering paranoia 
of you cutting me loose 

Youth covered in frown lines,
happiness fading with sun,
this timber is shivering cold 
without your fire in this place

It aches,
as if bitten in a polar pummel 
and I can’t bare to fight it,
marred like a marriage in court

Reports that I’m not enough,
a bluff from a telling truth,
a gavel striking down on me
when I’m innocent of loving you

the shadow of a husband,

married to his nature.

Touch me,

feel my blood move,

flowing towards your basin

to fill its futility.

Let it be the utility

in which keeps you lit

away from darkness

like a sea shell washed ashore.

Feel the grit of my pores,

sinful but pure

from the honesty I share

embedded in my walk.

Footprints in the sand

cushioned by your feel

soaking wet,

vanished with a kiss.
