My lungs gave up on me,
they couldn't fight another minute.
The depths were unclear,
and to my conscious I was in it.
Surrounded by a blue
deeper than denim beneath the shallows.
Standing for something no longer
my feet had no purpose in this gallow.
A demis suspending me
without solid ground to offer a plea.
The mermaids had no say
because they are just tenants in this sea.
O' they watched and felt dismal,
their tears lucid to the current.
I saw something beautiful one last time,
before I was tugged deeper and spent.
Consumed of all my dreams
on the surface at bay.
Costumed into a new world
where the sun will not awake.
