A man who is white is the same as a man who is black

The same features but character is something they lack

Same blood, same heart, same pulse...All the same

But mental slavery keeps us all enslaved

Could we tell the difference if both men bleed?

Could they both catch the same disease?

Do it separate us because they wear a suit n tie?

All I see is slacks with a certain dye

If each race die they're buried the same

Minds of the youth are twisted because our colors aren't the same

Open that mind's eye to break the mental slavery

Though our colors are different our hearts are the same

Its racism that causes our heartaches and pain

Demolish the foundation of slavery and bring equality back

She is the backbone, the spine, the nerves, my words,

She is the family every noun, pronoun, and verb,

She is the root of the tree that gives it life,

She is a mother, a grandmother, and a great wife,

She is our history the past and the present,

Everyone know who she is so there's no need for guessing,

She is a blessing to the family, and a blessing in the community,

Because the hotspot we have unity,

Her smile can light the dark, her words can move mountains,

She is the backbone and is needed like water in a fountain,

Our Maya Angelou, our righteous tool,

We are a family and won't stand alone,
