Of Present And Past Tribulations
For many of us, social distancing
is nothing new; neither are we strangers
to disparity and disproportions.
But when it comes to sheltering-in-place,
this becomes a major challenge.
Yes, this becomes a major challenge when
you have no place to shelter.
When you have no place to shelter
and are or about to become homeless—
Evicted—and socially deported into
that vast disproportionate community that
makes further distancing an impossibility
and pending death a coming reality.
Oh well, this disparity too, is no stranger
to the hued communities here in this,
the land of the free and home of the brave.
And we have well learned that freedom,
justice, liberation and equality of concern
concede nothing without struggle—Struggle,
that generational toiling that has taught us well
the socio-eco-historical-political relationship
between the oppressed and the oppressors,
and that there is One greater than all the oppressors.
One who will guide and direct us through overcoming
present dilemmas as we did past trials and tribulations.
Thus, let not the present pandemic in no way, distract us
from our total liberation struggle: The children are watching.
