my mother she fed us
she brought us things
when she could she never
picked us up from fallen
down she told us to get up
off the ground she yelled
she fussed she cussed she
beat us we all feared her wrath
we were most content when we
heard her laugh she never
gave us keys to her house
if we stayed out late she
locked us out after knocking
us over our head she made sure
we were fed before going to bed
she always told us she would
take us out but we never
left the house don't know
if times were better then
I know we didn't do what
she told us we bet not do
I was 7 when I felt like
I first met her I'm just here
writing stuff I still remember

Awesome capture Wize. This bring back similar memories of the way things were when I was young. My mom didn't play. With anyone's kids! She was a school bus driver for 41 years. She looked out for everybody. I'm glad she's still hanging in there! Thanks for the memories! Peace and blessings!

Remember, "Boy, if you don't get up and wipe them tears, I'll 'slap' all the black off you!" I now know that the pain of the PaPa's razor strap was to make sure i never forgot the words that was be said and the lesson taught. "Boy, I'll kill you myself before I let them white folks put you in jail!" Thanks for the memorable share, Poet Wize. Peace and Love, M. Lowe.
