Every Wordwhat is a diamond in a watch if it don't shine what is a clock that don't tell time what is a gold ring if it don't fit what do love mean if it don't feel like sh!t I'm just asking for a friend in the mirror I'm not asking for me I walk away I contemplate I know I need time away I know I need to concentrate focus on a better way careful not to look away too long don't want to drown today pulled under by a wave I lie awake dreaming of only I could fly away like a feather in the wind drifting off to next weekend got a event to attend all excited to be invited double bless to still be writing stuff down word for word like a court reporter producing accurate complete transcript to make it clear |
Cell To Cell (Repost)may the flow be with me may the flow always be with you we are the flowers on earth to beautify the world and spread the word we been given otherwise why are we living if we have to apologize before we die for not doing much with our life and doing others wrong waiting until the end to repent locked up wishing we never did what we did we all have choices not one is innocent we take our medicine to feel better but the tides won't let us ride to the other side without taking us under we patch the whole but can't close the void we keep bleeding plea bargaining negotiating our contract with the highest bidder sellout to bailout of the decisons we made possible to be in the position we're in there is a divide but it's not about color all the time we can't blame the dealer cause we can't play the card we sit in the yard we get in a car pulled over to the side by a guard knife sewn in our shorts not one is innocent still we are what we are to be |
The Switch Bushmy mama used to say go get me a switch I would go out the backdoor to pick one to get hit with always bringing back the skinniest one I could find for her to say I don't want that one go get me a strong one with tears rolling down my chubby cheeks I understood the assignment I decided to set the bush on fire and mama set my a** on fire I didn't understand at time the phrase it's all by design one time we moved into another house a few streets over but it wasn't no ordinary bush in the backyard this thing I never seen before it was bamboo I tried my best to stay out of trouble but my efforts didn't last for long I got the bamboo and a scar to prove it who thought it was a good idea to grow bamboo in Watts |
Why We Crya baby cries because its hungry how does the baby know its hungry ? It hurt it hurt to be hungry hunger is painful matters what one hungers for it's a uncomfortable feeling where does it hurt does hurt like a toothache does it hurt like a headache is hunger a stomach ache the person holding a sign @ the intersection isn't the only one who will work for food we all work for food we need to be fed we'll do anything for food ask the prostitute who really didn't want to sell her body if she's being honest she'll tell you she was hungry FDA ??? food is a drug we addicted can't live without it some of us can't miss a meal if we go one day we ready to kill we'll die without it in our system there's a pain we felt since birth but still can't explain where it hurt |
Setting The Tablestaring at a lovely center piece grabbed on to a passing thought strolling along minding its own business it's time to play this game again a game I call pretend let's pretend we get along let's pretend ain't nothing wrong let's dive into these plates after someone says grace let's act like everything's okay let's smile in each other's face let's be fake for one day and ignore each other the other three hundred sixty four we spend pretending like we don't know we kinfolk |
Dust In The Crevicesfaded picture in a dusty frame hangs on a wall in a empty house barely stands on its own longing to be a home again |
Out Of Placeat the start of the journey I found myself I enclosed in a dimly lit tunnel decades long the experience undesirable I wanted to go back I had to go back I believed I needed to go back something inside me said "if you go back you stay back" I heard that I received it I kept going experiencing a strong desire to return |
In Depthpoetry is improvised it suffers in silence competing with the evolution of expression attempting to unalive it can we revive it when it's obvious its losing popularity and becoming less appealing am I reaching too far to bring back the feeling how do we cope with the decline it's simple we write more poetry problem solved |
