Yesterday's Dream: Today's Reality

Seems like walking the line has become a daily

Routine;

It’s that over-charged birth debt of being born

Black.

Seen as lambs, no need to treat us like a real human

Being;

Racism has declared you missing that special mutated

Gene;

So take care hued prey, you are the free game to be

Attacked.

You’re told not to overreact; for this is a melting pot

Nation

And that your skin hue just happened to be the luck of

The draw.

You’re told that Lincoln didn’t have to go grant you

Emancipation;

That today’s America is doing great; no need for another

Damn civil war.

Told that if we didn’t stop demanding and screaming

No justice, no peace,

The newly revived modern pandemic lynching methods

Would not decrease.

But the voices of justice are eternal echoes loudly demanding

Their Equality;

The revolution is on—streamed—making yesterday’s dream

Today’s reality;

 It’s been said and it remains true, only the dreamer dies

 The dream lives on;

 The audacious hope of yesterday keeps us battling today

 Until freedom is won.

Today, we’re still here battling; warrior father, mother, and

Brave daughter and son.

P.S.:  No, we shall not, we shall not be moved;

          We got too damn much for us to prove.
