A Griot's Joyful Course... (Apropos of Peeping Eyes)

Two things we are told

and should always recall:

Our light should so shine that all

may know our good work; and all things

work together for good to us who are called

by God for His mission purpose.

The tolling bells are ringing

and the mission purpose grows

towards its physical ending;

leaving its spiritual energy behind...

Many of an apostolic may have gone

but the epistles they’ve left behind

remain sermonic lessons  to be taught,

learned and implemented...

While the white paper may be yellowing,

the inking remains blacken...reflecting

the supreme allegorical lesson: Washing

feet surpassing the washing of hands...

Yes, death has its purpose:

the resurrection of oppressed truth;

enlightening mind-blindness…

And while the inking of the word

often struggles to flow uninhibited,

know that its epiphany is inevitable...

May the tears that flow for me

forever water the fragrant flowers

I leave behind: blooming peace,

love, and the enlightening word...

And may my passing in passing

this way will be blessed with—leaving

permanent footprints—directing

vigorous heirs questing good trouble...

Like the freed butterfly from the cocoon

each struggling freedom flight

has been a beautiful laboring sojourn;

etching the skies with soaring liberation...

Such is the essence of legacy: not of the person

but of the energizing encouragement left behind

to nourish the determining hope and faith

of the torch bearers who are to likewise journey…

And though many of us will not be around—

perpendicular to the ground—to celebrate and

enjoy the great day, remember," only the worker

dies; the work goes on; for what was fought for

and won must be secured and forever maintained…

Like the butterfly continuing in the triumphant path

of the air—until no longer seen soaring—I, like Paul

in his waning time, humbly continue in the waning

times of my mission purpose God assigned unto me:

I've been blessed to stay in good trouble—fighting

the good fight—armed with audacious hope and faith

energizing me in body and soul with divine wisdom; filled

with the power of spirit guiding me in the finishing my course.
