I was a slave to my parents
and everyone else's parents
if dared to press up I'd be
dealt with and done for
I knew oppression long before
stepping out into this hate filled
world I understand the rebellion
of young people you can't respect
what don't respect you
you can't respect what don't
respect itself you can't bow down
to what's not your God
my elders didn't know
they couldn't help themselves
they didn't know nothing else
they wasn't smart they did what
they was taught they couldn't
love they didn't have a heart
couldn't speak speech wasn't free
broken bones from sticks & Stones
beat until blood seeped
called it discipline wishing I could
rise up to kill the whole household
for all the trauma stirring in my soul
can't blame the youth of today
for being made that way
let's just call it getting even
