Who am I?
Why I'm just as you are,
I get hot, cold, jealous too
have dreams of a Cuban cigar.
I deny facing fear and cruelty
stand when wanting to sit,
perfectly imperfect I'll be
curious seeing others have a fit!
I, we, sing along with commercials
run to cover in a thunderstorm,
carefully squirt mustard on hot dogs
squirm when lying which isn't the norm.
I cannot stand flies nor mosquito bites
had hoped to carry the Olympic flame,
maybe at least light it to begin the games
hollered at supervisors then felt the shame.
Copied text of past writers I call ghost hand
and often wonder why bullies fear self,
I've counted peanuts to many dollar bills
can rely upon a Lord when all else have left.
Dunked doughnuts, swatted flies, raced
held clocks, worn watches, and bbq'd,
have worn mismatch socks, I even sing
dreamed I beat Ali, was only crud I chewed!
Who am I? I am human, like you, I am!
I've brewed coffee, who haven't? Dunno
flown kites, jumped on beds, baked cakes,
ran a few trails of the underground railroad
(only in my mind), broken many yard rakes.
Fed Uncle and Aunt Sam a piece of my mind
I've given received, played cards to dominoes,
rode horses, burnt food before, worked odd jobs
sat and watched the sun set, I'd say “There it goes”.
I'm just like you! I am.
