Flickers of deja vu
Dance in my peripheral vision
Every now and again.
Bits and pieces
Perhaps dreams and memories
I didn’t remember having.
But for that split second
The flicker of each one
Took their place in my present
And blended like puzzle pieces
Into my surroundings.
No odd shapes of sides
To fit together
Just melded edges
Fitting like woven fabric.
It happened one evening
As I was preparing dinner.
Almost every time I spoke
Voices echoed in my ears.
I could see the entire scene
Play out before me
My spirit stepped back for
A few moments of assessment
Allowing me to truly see myself
Not sure as to why it happened
Now as intensely as it did.
Was it a prerequisite for
The preparation of future events or
Just flickers of memories and dreams
I didn’t remember having?
To be continued......
