So, here we are, masters of our faith;
Captains of our souls; but like a boat
Docked and anchored at a strange port,
We find ourselves floating waters of deception.
And on the boardwalk of life the Devil’s hell-
Hounds snarl at us with murderous growls
Dripping from their evil drooling mouths:
Our sails slashed and bullet-ridden,
We find ourselves grieving the winds of justice.
Despite James River landings and others,
Today, oppression sails a Titanic sea
And its bigoted lifeboats have been unhinged
As planned mutiny awaits the taking back—the
Taking back of the stolen cargo of life and liberation;
Let these fallen words be as the rainwater
Pitter-patting raindrops of allegorical messages
To wet the awareness of being like first responder
Voters attending to healing needs of the oppressed;
The bill that Johnson signed so many moons ago
Has yet to fully demonstrate fulfillment of its great power:
A power that only the least of us deemed humans can release.
And that released lightning power waits upon the horizons;
Let us assure the inevitability of the rising sun of liberation.
