Time tested love
bruised and battered,
often lay like littered crystals
on the steel-plated stage of life:
Dismembered and crumbled
like particles of old stale cookies
that have lost their baked bonding
and are now blowing in the wind.
Ingredients of envious spice
often inhibit all adhesiveness
that tough threading love
has folded and kneaded as one.
But the sprinkling of forgiveness
knits and weaves the web
of diverse unity of understanding:
cocooning new beginnings.
Indeed, the most fragile butterfly wings
have endured—soaring monarch majesty—
defying time tested treacherous winds
that the teeming silk of love forever weaves.
May our love of self and each other
be as a woven vase reflecting the beauty
and essence that rivals that of God’s
roses of Sharon and the lilies of his field.
