Once again we find ourselves
A nation in pandemic dilemma;
Once more, we find ourselves
Contrasting national power and love:
We have yet to grasp the beauty in the unity.
Rather, while claiming a love of nation,
We continue to allow its power abuse.
Once again, the questions arise,
Where must we go from here in a nation that’s
Falling apart at its core?
There is nothing warming about a nation
Involved in a cold civil war—
Nearly 6 decades ago, MLK informed us
That throughout the history of this nation,
Contrasting power and love as polar opposites
Has been one of its greatest problems;
For it has been proven a ludicrous attempt
To have Back America to seek equanimity
Through love and moral suasion devoid of power
While white America continues with dominating
Power devoid of love and moral consciousness—
It must yet be realized power concedes nothing
Void of struggle; and that in the power of love
We must demand justice; voting to forever ensure justice
As love correcting everything that opposes its loving power.
My brothers and sisters, God’s love has given us the power;
Now, let us, in the power of love, vote in our thanksgiving.
