Beneath the quiet cerulean sky
spotted with flat and puffy white clouds,
I coasted along the valley-laid freeway
bordered on both sides by beautiful forest
palisades of monumental statue-like trees.
Regal trees—clothed with—gorgeous leaves
waving and reflecting beautiful shades
of green, yellow, brown, orange and red tints.
That this peaceful breath-taking canvassing
of nature’s glorious beauty—actually—veiled
the horrific ugliness of a frail nation in dreadful
calamity became—for a brief moment—perplexing
to the curious mindset of a struggling sojourning
soul, seeking restitution from oppressive retribution.
Yet, as this Janus perspective revealed itself, likewise
did scripture messages reveal to my spirit that this day
was a day the Lord had made and that I—perpendicular
in it—should be glad and rejoice in it; for I am still here
in the struggle to establish God’s justice, peace and love.
That in this day, I have been chosen again—through laboring
love—to be a servant of God by being in service to my people.
And that though I daily travel through the valley of the shadow
of death, I should have no fear of the evil; for as God guided
Noah in his liberating mission-purpose likewise, I am—too!
Yes—the beauty of this day has taught that no matter how
ugly the inhumanity of humans to each other, the beauty of God’s
love and willed justice and peace will always be as triumphant as
the resurrection—Our loving God is the God of the oppressed and
His is the glory and ever liberating power and beauty of all.
