Still Time to Vote!?

i still haven't voted yet

i'm truly torn

all the candidates have pessimistic past

but the black woman had to vote last

i'm so undecided

republican, democrat why are we divided

what to do pick the lesser of evils between the two

they preach voting is our right

none of the candidates have my people in their key sight

what party is down for our fight

police reform and social economic improvements

civil rights all over again this time we need better movements

time is running out

i still need to vote

but for what and for who

what to do

The Immortal Wize says:

Your feelings are valid you have the right to be independent in your decision, you laid out all reasons not to but it's still up to you if you do or don't. Mush respect

Great write. I agree with Wize's comment, it's your choice to vote or not. All our voices should be heard.

Thanks for sharing agirlandhertypewriter. Very valid reasons to wonder and ponder but as difficult as it may be change is easier to achieve when you are engaged in an activity. Your opinions matter, your voice matters. You matter.

I hear you, my Sister. Understand that many have died for us to be in this age-old predicament of having to choose between the lesser of the evils of the present political parties. Thus has been the nature of independent Black voting---which party is the lesser of the evils in having our interest at heart (wisdom dwells in contemplation). This predicament will remain until we can get beyond the racist American syndrome and organize our own trusted Black Political Party. In the meanwhile, we must not let those sacrificed lives to have been in vain. Many years ago when I found myself pondering whether or not it was worth voting, I suddenly realized what a milestone we had reached and found myself contemplating on the words of MLK---words that helped put my dilemma in into perspective. As an Elder agreeing with what has already been said above, I now share these words with you: "The powerful never lose opportunities---they remain available to them. The powerless, on the other hand, never experience opportunity---it is always arriving at a later time." The time now to decide is 5 days away and the choice is yours; that's the power you now have---the CHOICE! Thank you for sharing this powerful write with the FAMILY. Peace and Love, Millard Lowe (mlowe5)

Powerful and strong words mlowe5. Thank you very much for taking the time to share such wisdom. The/my Elders are definitely one of the only reasons why I would vote. I've been told stories of their struggles. I do hope there will be a day soon where we could have our own representation because until then our people will remain at the bottom of the food chain. However, I also feel we need to come together better as a people. More of us need to get along and work with one another. But I do see hope in our future and slowly some of us are reaching out!!! Voting this time is truly a tough decision but I know I will make the right choice. I appreciate your opinion and support! :-)

You are so welcome, agirlandhertypewriter. Like mine and those before, your generation has its work to do and I am proud to say that I know you will get it done. Like Martin, I won't be here to enjoy it but I know it will be done---because of those like you. Keep penning that creative mind of yours. Your writes are most profound. Peace and Love, mlowe5.
