In the cases of cases involving
the mattering of black lives, we
are taught many fateful lessons
that rattle our learned faith.
The greatest among them
is this: Those who fire killing
bullets—be they of powered
metal or bone knees outing black
lives—are never charged; just merely
fired and given the freedom to roam on.
But the dead they caused to be—buried
or burned in cremation—are sentenced
to eternal death! What a powerful lesson
in present-day American jurisprudence—
in which justice and equality are clarified as
ideologies and injustice as a demonic reality
of the atrocities veiled in America’s democracy.
