Black Eyes

life

Through my black eyes, I see and fear for our black lives,

and how our lives are supposed to matter...but to them we’re just matter

which by definition, we’re just a mass that takes up space

Camouflaged genocide By the people who wear uniforms

Unadvertised apartheid approved by those on political platforms

pigmentation intensifies any simple situation because of the threat created with their imagination

These premeditated protocols that they call laws or procedures

is equivalent to premeditated murder but staged to make it legal

“Let me see your identification”, but if you move to get it, you're lacking cooperation,

 ignited prejudice manifestation

years of mirrored desecration

new age segregation

disguised inequality with caucasity monopoly

I tell my son...there are rules that apply to everyone

but you have rules that aren’t written down

His skin is white and your skin is brown,

if you stand next together and measure the weight of the pressure,

Your weight will always be obese compared to his,

The target on your back that you were born with, weighs heavier than the value of the life you’re stuck with

I wonder how it feels to have privilege as a birthright

To be an actual resident on that “land of the free” that was bleached white

School curriculums teaches our kids black history but at a minimum

Like...how our ancestors were slaves against their will,

how MLK marched from Selma to capitol hill

How Rosa parks said “you got me fkd up” I had a long day, my feet hurt so this seat is where I stay

How madam Cj walker invented the slay for my curls to pop and these edges to lay

But There are so many more historical figures in our history that deserve recognition but our ethnicity doesn’t outweigh white superiority

They teach our kids that Christopher Columbus came and found America

but forget to mention how he didn’t find America

I guess they forgot how he killed and raped thousands of natives

yet somehow we still manage to have a holiday to celebrate him

They talk about Independence Day for Americans but never mention how that day only applies to white Americans

I don’t ever remember learning about Juneteenth

They sweep our history under the rug and call it “inclusion”

they manipulate our animosity and create an equal rights illusion

The image of us is corrupted by racial bias in the media

Injustice no longer comes to a surprise...

and unfortunately we’re immune to the “black man killed...” headlines

I don’t hate white people, but I undeniably dislike their ancestors who started their bloodline

They passed down hereditary genes to the people who shot up columbine

As a sidenote, why do they lock down black schools as if we’re the ones shooting up schools?

The last time a black kid shot up a school under duress was.......you know what....Nevermind, I digress I’m just saying....if you don’t see racism and/or how upside down this country is,

I’m convinced that you’re choosing not to see it

Wearing animated glasses with cracked and blackened lenses

You have a choice!

Our community? it’s no mystery that we have work to do, but why hasn’t anyone mentioned how fkd up that community is too?

The raw truth...comes off negative and it steps on toes

I’d be lying if I said I cared if I offended anybody

They say “a hit dog will holler” so I expect to hear a few barks

But before you bark, take those glasses off first and reanalyze your thought outside of the dark

If you know me, you know I argue facts not feelings Take the mask off in the mirror to evaluate what we’re dealing with

Un*** your community so we can talk about this actual equal opportunity

we’re years away from real unity

So until then, I’ll just observe the caucasity

I’ll stay proud of being a part of my black community

I’ll watch how my greatness sources their insecurities

on how...

my skin is so sweet and brown shaded,

how i can rock my hair natural, straight, or braided,

How my facial features are underrated because how I was created could never be duplicated

And how the strength from my ancestors were passed down to me like a chromosome

I don’t need 23 and me to tell me which one my predecessors were dope...they all were

Hate in peace
