lightness in the dark
Hey there my fellow poets! Blessings and greetings to you all for a prosperous new year. Life has been pretty rough for me since I last posted but nonetheless, as always with God's mercy and grace I've persevered. I'm finally at a point where I can start posting again. I so miss being on here and reading everyone's works. I hope that everything is going well for everyone. Let's keep the inklove flowing!

The Glass In Between

CATEGORY

just different

In a world filled with technology

Some of us like it

Some of us don’t.

I completely understand.

There are advantages and

Disadvantages the like

Though nothing compares to

The physical presence of a

Loved one and being able to

Embrace them with everything

You have as your soul

Is being filled.

Video chat has brought us

As close as we’re gonna get to that.

So in order to get thru this, we must

Remain thankful for the little things.

The ability to communicate

Hundreds of miles apart and yet

Feel like you’re side by side.

The glass in between whether

You’re on your tablet, phone or watch

Suffices when you can’t be present

For someone who needs you,

Or when you really need someone.

So in this never ending world

Overflowing with technology,

Embrace the communicative abilities and

Treasure moments in the moment

For without it, who knows where

In life we’d be?

Reading this helped me to realize how confined we really are. It's no different between visiting someone in jail or prison communicating on a phone talking through a sheet of glass, in your words...thanks for sharing!

TEACH, LP45! TEACH! Yet, I must confess that I often tell my adult children to call me on the "free" house phone or send me a card; letting me know they got the letter that I mailed (smile)...[still got some Marvin Gaye stamps left]...Great write. Thanks for the share, M'Lowe.

Exactly Wize, that's basically the feeling I was trying to portray but in an acceptable way as to not keep our hearts and minds confined so we all keep our sanity and have some kind of hope within us to look forward to. Thank you for reading.

I agree with you wholeheartedly Mlowe5. There's nothing like the way things used to be. Thanks for reading.

Now, when the children start that confusing I-gram and that other stuff, I can't deal with the "bull droppings!" I only do FaceBook because of family like you; Most times my Face is still in a book. We now need to teach the children how to use the window to search for Truth. Peace and Love

I agree. I do that with my grandchildren, especially the little ones as much as possible. Summer visits are the norm with us.
