As she paint over the broken part of herself with make-up,
She stares in the mirror at her reflection.
Looking at the part of her that has suffered hurt, pain,
and rejection.
She only feel alive when she’s on stage.
Using her body to gain the attention of men who
are willing to tell her whatever they think she want to hear.
Words sweeter than honey fall off their lips,
While admiring her body and the way she move her hips.
Desperate for love but looking in all the wrong places.
Wearing a mask; hiding her true self.
Putting on a performance and wearing many faces.
Ignoring the voice of truth within herself by
listening to the words of everyone else.
Settling for love in any form even if it’s not real.
Burying her pain in alcohol and drugs.
Trying to escape reality and what she truly feel.
She’s a prisoner trapped in a mental cage.
Tormented by the demons of her past and fear as her warden.
Her heart; heavily guarded and filled with rage.
The heart that was once soft has now become cold and harden.
