With Hope And Faith In The Promise

Like roaring rivers flowing under bordering bridges,

Cascading over, under, and around blocking stones

And rocks, so must we be as we continue to struggle

Along the freedom road to promised equanimity;

As we encounter walls of opposition built with blocks

Of injustice, let us approach them as remnants of Jericho;

Their fate and destiny, victims of the fortitude and integrity

Of a people with their eyes on the prize—plowing on to victory;

As the millennial sojourn to true freedom continues to threaten

Our resolve let us not be dismayed by the new tactics of injustice

That modern-day political bigotry and deceit is heaping upon us;

Rather, let us ever be mindful that we are heirs of warriors, who

With the stone of hope and faith of fire, could move mountains.

As we continue to plow rows of hope while sowing seeds of faith

And watering seedlings of liberation blooming in the new day sunshine,

Let us be mindful that we are the children of the God of the oppressed—

Those whom He has promised to come and rule the world with Justice.
