Time has moved on
But little has changed.
Still no justice; still no peace
And black body counts still rise
As we sink lower and lower
Into the whorl pool legalities
Of the jurisprudence of injustice;
Leaving us again with the questions:
What do we tell our children?
and
Where do we go from here?
Time has moved on
But little has changed
As we now approach
The juxtaposed celebrations
Of Juneteenth and the 4th of July:
So much remains to be put asunder;
There’s still so much for us to ponder.
