OLDE TO HURRICANE KATRINA

CATEGORY

A HOLLOWED OUT SOUND
A TRUMPET MAKES
WINDSTORM DAMAGE
AND BROKEN GATES
STIRRING ECHOES
HELD CAPTIVE
BY BODIES ON
THE GROUND
BLOATED CORPSES
LEFT BEHIND
OF THOSE THAT
 DROWNED
LOVED ONES LOST
SOME WERE NEVER FOUND
HUDDLED MASSES OF PEOPLE
THE SUPER DOME ARENA
THE TRAVESTY OF
HURRICANE KATRINA
BROKEN LEVEES
AND MILITARY HOSTILITY
A FAMILIAR HISTORY
WHEN THEY BLEW UP
THE LEVEE
IN THE 1920’S
GENERATIONAL SCARS
AND MENTAL POVERTY
STILL A PART OF THEIR
REALITY
I REMEMBER I KEPT HEARING
OF LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN
THAT WAS 16 YEARS AGO
DOES IT MEAN SOMETHING
DIFFERENT
WHEN YOU SAY
IT LOOKS LIKE RAIN

Powerful. Extended family survivors are still suffering from physical and mental collateral damages. Great share. Thanks, Breadcrums2021. Peace and Love.
