I prayed for a man
But he was not praying for me
My vision was blurry
But now I can see
The painful lessons....rejection
The shield- My hearts protection
Self-love
I choose me
My peace

Do Not Give UpSchool can be frustrating Just a word of encouragement for students. Do Not Give Up On yourself. Some people will not encourage you to move forward. There are times we have to motivate ourselves. We all get in our little funks. Do not wallow in it. A new day tomorrow just press forward. |
Who Told You To Be StrongWho told you to be strong When you are not okay It is okay to cry let those bad feelings go away Who told you to hold your head up When you are feeling down It is okay to cry You do not have to hold inside Who told you to be strong Smiling, but your smile is not real Who told you to be strong It is okay to feel what you feel You are not wrong For not being strong We have to deal with pain Before we move on And when someone says Stay strong Just know that it is okay Not to be strong today.

Invisible WomanI am invisible to you |
The CocoaI am sweet honey dipped in brown sugar The plant I derived from it's called the sweet dark cocoa My lips are soft sweet and full good for kissing I use my dark melanin essence as a sweet expression My hair is soft as ever most don't understand the kinky They use derogatory words for what they think of me I know some people call it nappy But what the sun gives me....My body is happy My smile maybe a little different With my teeth a small gap I have a lot of struggles but I carry large weights on my back So Many don't understand why I love that I am black There is no room for an enemies attack I create seeds which create trees And every root of the earth is a part of me |
I Am Not My HairI know you don't care |
My Black SisterYou tried to turn me against her |
Are We LivingAre we living No, we're dying Drug popping and pistol buying What kind of seeds are being sown When taking lives to become our own Who's raising our kids The street of death And the lifetime bids Father's absence from the home Mother's don't care they are street gone Out searching for Mr Wrong Wondering what he has going on No more talking, no peace, nothing left A sentence of street death Falling tears ...still weeping Sleep and still sleeping When do we awake? From the violence of self-hate Outraged when we see others take from us Taking a trip on that murderous bus Not uniting But constantly fighting Hate consumed Crimes unjustifiable Less Hate More love More peace Minds at ease Ignorance ceased ... |
