THRU THESE BARS

-As I watch the sun set once again.
-Through these bars.
-As if this is a pen.
-And I’m the animal within.
-My soul weighs heavy.
-From sin.
-God please fix these levees.
-Stop all the depression, doubt & temptation.
-From pouring in.
-Because once again.
-I’m ready to be born again.
-Please forgive my backsliding.
-Adultery
-Anger
-And lying
-I’m ready to become a better man.
-I know my role.
-And what I am.
-In your grand plan.
-So tomorrow morning.
-If the sun comes up.
-Lord willing.
-If I wake up.
-I’ll thank God for that blessing.
-Then
-I’ll look
-Through these bars.
