Feelings of abandonment haunt her
Like nightmares in the daytime.
Everything is cold, barren and silent
Pain and sadness takes over
Clouding her eyes with tears and
Staining her glasses to no end.
No longer could she hold back
It hurt too much and her dam broke.
Wanting nothing but a drink
Time of day didn't matter to her.
If it wasn't for obligations other than
She, that's where she’d be.
But she knows she's more than her problems.
Even though liars who claimed to care
Have finally spoken their truths.
She gave from her heart
Not expecting any return,
Turned out to be seemingly
Unappreciated.
Is she wrong for feeling this way?
Perhaps but only she and God
Truly knows what is and isn't.
Her journey has barely begun
And the road has already proven
To be riddled with potholes
A few smooth spots gave her
Some well needed relief
But for only a short amount of time.
She's got a long road ahead
But she's strong and resilient.
She walks alone in the darkness
Since the former light of souls
Have left her straining to see.
It's time for her to shut off the power to
All the light switches in her life that
No longer help illuminate her pathway.
She's got this though
She was taught how to see in the dark
She may be cold and hurting for now
But her memories keep her warm.
Her sun will shine once again.
Because she's doing things right
This time around.
Even though what God wants
Her to do seems hard,
It's not beyond her learning.
Seeking refuge in the light
She's warm now and no longer
Left out in the cold.
