When law and order personnel
Can break into a Black woman’s house
And murder her for sleeping well
Know that justice has been served
In America!
When knees are forgiven
For snuffing out the breath
Of an innocent Black
Know that justice is served
In America!
When crying laughing white youth
Can roam the streets and murder
White men who believe in equanimity
Can be praised for self-defense bigotry
Know that justice has been served
In America!
And when vigilante family
Is exonerated for chasing and killing
A jogging Black man in their community
By shooting him in his black back
Know that justice has been served
In America!
Now you know why the present
Blind, uneven scaled Statue of Liberty
Replaced the original queenly Black one:-
That deemed justice would always be served
In America!
“Oh say can you see by the dawn’s early light…”
That when it comes to the likes of you me
Broken plates of justice are always served us here
In America!
Thus we are told to be grateful
That we are here perpendicular—
Living semi-free—justly served here
In America!
