The Warning
Good morning mom/dad
I will see you later
I am on my way to school
In the cafeteria talking and eating
Gunfire erupts everywhere,
Now it is on the news
I said I would see you later
I had no clue it was my time to go
Bloody covered tables and doors
Black and white lifeless bodies all across the floor
I can hear people screaming
Momma, I'm bleeding
Why can't anyone hear me
So many people running away
I'm trying to turn the clock back
Lord, please let me skip this day
Prior to my death
There were pictures of real threats
No one took her seriously
No one expected deaths
She threatened to kill black people
this girl at my school
Nothing was really done
Because it wasn't against school rules
The school didn't take it seriously
Although the parents were outraged
She was taken out of school temporarily
It was only for a few days
My death could have prevented
But now I myself and others gone
I should not have said later
My plan was to return home
If only they would have paid attention sooner
I'd be planning graduation and my parents wouldn't be planning my funeral
When I like to write to express my different viewpoints. This poem's about a scenario today of how the High School shootings happen and what can happen should they choose to ignore this.
