Dreams
Sometimes our only rest from reality
The only place we can be carefree
Somewhere to escape the insanity,
Forever providing a sense of safety
Unless of course you are a black woman
We know the titles
Aggressive, overbearing, hostile and ignorant
Wishing someone saw us as more than just belligerent
I can't imagine telling my daughter she has to go through this
Thinking about my childhood, I sit and reminisce
on the only place I felt true bliss, my dreams
What they don’t know is
The dreams of a black woman are powerful
The dreams of a black woman are so much more than a picture in her mind
The dream of a black woman is a glimpse of her future
The dreams of a back woman tell you that she is a producer
Of all things worth having leaving no room for moochers
The dreams of a black woman will come to fruition
Because she is determined to go out and get it
The dreams of a black woman are from God
Now as a black woman we learn to overcome
As the obstacles we face are superfluous or more than enough
See we know the odds are stacked against us
But we never let that be the reason to deter us
Because we are the magnificent few
Who’s melanin brings out the best version of you
Tupac said it best, we are the rose that grew
Black women are invincible
I want to close this out by saying
I wish Breonna Taylor got the chance to show the world her dreams
I wish Breonna Taylor had a chance to show her crown because she is a queen
I wish Breonna Taylor was viewed as more than an object for a bullet to go through
I wish Breonna Taylor was alive to give us her point of view
I wish Breonna Taylor was a name we knew for her valor
And not just a name for white people to shout Black Lives Matter
Dream In Peace Breonna Taylor
