As victims of domestic cold war atrocities,
Including deaths by lynching, other forms
Of strangulations, gunshots, and even bombings,
We can not only sympathize but also empathize
With refugees fleeing from death in Ukraine:-
Yet, our hearts must flutter at the ultra racism
Still raising its Pontius Pilate-like bordering hands
Pointing backward at bona fide African-Ukrainian
Citizens and other people of colour rightfully living,
Working or studying in that country. Appalling! Yet,
Albeit it all, there’s still no hate in our hearts; no.
Just paining dry keloid tears of the atrocities and
The collateral damages of worldly war and racism.
Who would woefully have thought that in war—
Often said to be fought in the name of peace, justice,
And equality—capitalism and communism would
Share a common international racist-border ideology?
Once again, MLK’s words in “WHERE DO WE GO FROM
HERE”, echo loud and clear. Way back then, moons ago
We were reminded of the unconquered dispositions
Of “…the giant triplets of racism, materialism, and militarism…”
Indeed, the deadly war game trio continues in their conquering.
