Who knew that being in your thirty’s
The view would rearrange
I don’t miss the casual sex or
Awkward next day “be on your way”
There were plenty of opportunities
For a last name change
Never single but always
With restraint
It makes me smile
Just to reminisce
Who knew there’d be so much
I didn’t miss
Take for instance
All those scribbled notes
Little poems
Penned with love
I did it more than once
Charmed many
With an easy front
It was the drama
They craved
Three days of undeniable
Passion
My interest hardly
Lasted
Who knew
My last move
Would lead me to you
Almost 7 years deep
Bad habits die hard
(No desires to cheat)
Who knew
That’d even be a “thing”
You have me at the alter
Left speechless
Without confession
No skeletons in my closet
(Any more)
On a journey
With right intentions
I tossed out old collections
-Memorabilia of all the women
I ever spent with-
Simple is beautiful
Reciprocal love
Without deception
Who knew
My best moments
Came without trying
Now I’m coasting
With a heart on fire
Smiling like
I knew..
