Soul-Less

she said
from underneath the quilted bedspread
she said
from underneath the bedspread
that he didn't have
soul power
what she wanted
soul power
what she needed
soul power

and he got up and took a shower
the hour was late
she did not appreciate the long wait
for him to get his
soul power
and no sliding across the parquet floor
no James Brown assistant standing by the door
with multicolored capes
to drape around his soul-less frame

please, please, please
He fell to his knees
begging for an applause
a lost cause
a soul-less man with no name

she said
from on top of the quilted bedspread
that he used to be
super bad
something that used ta make her shout
make her know what it's all about
there was a time when he had
soul
and it was super bad
