In the present summer of our discontent,
we are daily tip-toeing atop civic thin ice—
beneath a hot red-hued fiery political sun
whose heat rivals celebrating Juneteenth
and 4th of July with streaming rays of 6th
of January hurricane-like domestic terror.
Daily re-streaming of once live streamed
domestic terror grows in episodic popularity
under the umbrellas of free speech and assembly;
providing excited reels of free political campaigning
for shrewd collective bigoted political power mongers
seeking—through any means necessary—to regain power.
Ironically, sweating in heated apathy, we fan ourselves
with the disposition of “the more things change, the more
they stay the same”—feeling it will always be such in our lives.
With Fall awaiting over on the distant horizon, we must arise
And strengthen our collective cooling power to mitigate
The present political galling of our fought for and won liberty:-
While we wearily must tip-toe the thin ice of political deceit,
Let us do so with the gaff of liberation in our unchained hands.
Come, ye comrades of justice, let us not be subdued in fear—
Debased easy prey of the heated streamed fires of oppression:-
With renewed exaltation and destined eyes on the journey’s prize
Let us be as gold medal swimmers of liberty as political thin ice melts.
