Flow me a river…flow me a river…
Flow me a river…and let the waters of
My river of life buoys me here—fruiting on.
Indeed, in the river of the life we live,
Her waters flow us in the here and now;
And from the here and now, to the daily
Here and now of today’s survival trials:-
Yes, the future is rooted in the beginning—
IOW, the past roots the growth of the future:-
Seeds are of their fruits and sown to be seeded again;
And in the future harvestings, we reap what we sowed.
Though some of the fruits of the seeds sown here
Will germinate and flow bitter-sweet American juices,
Their indigenous seeded fruits were freely rooted in Africa
While they would have us cry a river of life,
Let’s make it clear that the mouth of our river
Was not opened here but from the rooted throat
Of Africa, created free with the lightening words of life:-
Hey, as it is said, we reap whatever it is that we sow,
Let’s ensure that in the coming harvest, we have sown
Liberated liberating seeds nourished with birthing liberation.
